Meeting Management Basics
Meeting Management Basics
Start on time whether everyone has arrived or not.* We teach people how to respond.* When we reward those who are late by waiting for them, we are punishing those who followed the rules and arrived on time. * Personally and professionally, I resent it when my time is viewed as worthless because others are late on a regular basis.* How about you?
If you are the one arriving late on a regular basis, plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early.* Take work with you to read, quickly review, etc. prepare your mind for the next
meeting; so the meeting starts on time and is focused.
If your boss is the one arriving late, you can go to them and ask them how to get the meeting started on time because it diminishes credibility for that particular leader.* The point of this discussion is you are here to help your boss build and maintain credibility and foster productivity.* This is not a discussion around judgment.* Many times because someone has a certain title, we expect them to know the same things you know already.* Please know that this is not the norm.
We hope that this meeting management has been interesting and beneficial to your professional development.* Please contact us at LAC for further and more in-depth assistance.
